Georgia Democratic Party Forum records, 1959-1972 (bulk 1967-1971).

Series I consists of the records of Write-In Georgia from 1964, 1966-1967. Includes correspondence, minutes, financial and legal documents, printed materials and newsclippings. Contains information on Write-In Georgia's problems with air time from local television stations, voting irregularities in the general election, civil suits filed by the organization, and campaign activities. Series II consists of records of the Georgia Democratic Party Forum from 1959-1972, and includes correspondence (1967-1972) of individuals interested in joining the Forum to oppose Governor Lester Maddox's effort to hand-pick the Georgia Delegation to the National Democratic Convention. Also contains minutes (1968-1970); financial documents including membership records, receipts, and bank statements (1966-1970); and printed material including reports, lists, news clippings, press releases, resolutions, and constitution and by-laws. Of particular interest are legal documents relating to Civil Action Suit 11709, brought about to stop Maddox's actions.
